In 2018 Lisa had a dress created for a 14th century themed wedding. It had an overgrown in indigo china silk and a grey under gown in a cotton blend Jacquard with shoes to match! The outfit was created with historically derived patterns of 14th century German dress in keeping with the bride’s heritage.
The Indigo over gown was embellished with elaborate silver threading and beading worked in a mix of glass beads, freshwater pearls, and silver wire sourced directly from India. It had seven gores in the skirt to create a full circle when seated with twenty-six smaller beaded stars encircling the lower hem. The neckline was cut lower so as to show off the neckline embellishment of the under gown.
Her grey under gown was a simple fitted cut with a lace up back. The cuffs and neckline were embellished with a silver lace tape covered with gemstones to give just a bit of sparkle.
The shoes were hand-made out of fine white leather in keeping with the turn shoe design of the 1300s. The beading and cut work mimicked the designs on the over gown creating a collected look.
From start to finish this outfit took about six weeks to create with each stitch being done entirely by hand.
